noun

Architecture . a projecting element of a façade, used especially at the center or at each end and usually treated so as to suggest a tower.

scaffolding

[skaf-uh l-ding, -ohl-]

noun

Scaffolding, also called scaffold [1] or staging,[2] is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other man made structures.

A Scaffolding structure is also similar with a pavilion which is often temporary, a structure which is mainly for functional and service but creates undoubtful beauty by itself, it is a space in between the city and the building which doesn’t belong to each side creating a neutral-space witnessing the city and the building.

We would like to encourage students using “pavilion” or “scaffolding ” as a concept or metaphor creating/inventing an argument or manifesto of your own understanding of a piece of a city. A piece of city that will become your own utopia that is created with one strong idea that is established during the process of the studio. The studio will start from asking students analyzing “pavilions” and the theme“scaffolding”, on the order hand traveling through the site and city accumulating all information and creating your own project through the process.

-Pedagogy

Our wish is for this creative workshop to trigger and inspire students to generate a new and exciting interpretation of the city.
