Background / 课程背景
Structuralism oriented from “Semiotics” raised by Ferdinand de Saussure. Structuralism philosophers always start their study of society from a concept “binary opposition”. It reveals that meanings are always defined by two oppositions: With the meaning of “light”, dark is able to mean something. Actually, this concept has already inserted into our mind as a starting point of our thoughts. Further more, as liberalism formed a global atmosphere, descriptions of different ideologies has entered a micro-narrative era instead of macro-narrative. The subjects of“Oppositions” changed from giant group like nations and societies to small group like LGBT group. This project starts from the method “binary opposition” raised by structuralism to analyze social events and to acknowledge the connections behind the phenomena. As a designer, we need to capture those oppositions hiding from the events and be able to treat that as a starting point.
结构主义哲学起源于索绪尔提出的“符号学”。结构主义哲学家通常从“二元对立”的角度分析社会问题——意义的产生源自相互定义的对立两极——定义了“光明”，“黑暗”才有意义；定义了“富裕”，“贫穷”才有意义……其实，这部分思维早已基于我们的语言进入思维，影响着我们日常的分析与判断。自从自由主义价值观席卷全球，意识形态进入越来越微观的描述领域。世界上这种“对立”的主体也从宏大的群体例如国家和社会转移到了微小的群体例如LGBT圈之上。本课题从结构主义“二元对立”分析方法入手，旨在探讨纪念性事件背后的对立关系。作为设计师，我们需要洞察事件背后本身的对立所在，并将此作为纪念性景观的出发点。
