Hong Kong is one of the highly dense and expensive cities to live. Because of this highdensity, it has created a series of apartment typologies that is unique to its economic and social context.

In 2016 the total Hong Kong population was 7.3 million, and 53% of domestic households were living in private permanent housing and 30.4% were in public rental housing.
Because most apartments are relatively modest in size, many of the structural walls are located in the periphery of the building. This allows many of the internal walls to be demolished and reconfigured to meet new modern living needs.
Brief
To reconfiguration a 75m² apartment in Hong Kong.

This studio will allow students to develop detail spatial and furniture design in the domestic typology.

This is an opportunity for students to explore closely to materiality, colour, interior lighting, and proportion in a small scale design.

The studio will focus on large model making and detail drawings to explore space and materiality

It’s more than just an interior design. The studio will examine the idea of public and private in the domestic living scale.
